Effective for plan years beginning on or after JULY 1, 2007, a new California legislation will prohibit an annual or lifetime benefit maximum for orthotics and prosthetic devices and services that are less than the annual and lifetime benefit maximums for basic health care services. This law also limits copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and out of pocket maximums for orthotics and prosthetic devices and services to no more than the most common amount applied to basic health care services.
